More than\n80,000 students are enrolled at Zurich's universities and universities of applied sciences, and only around\n11% of them have beds in student residences. For many years, there has been a well-known shortage of affordable housing in the city of Zurich\n. Since its foundation in 1987, the SSWZ Foundation has therefore been explicitly committed to helping this target group. It now offers housing for almost 2,000 enrolled students across six districts of Zurich.\nThe SSWZ Foundation is a non-profit organization that is not affiliated with any political party or religious group. There is still only affordable housing in Zurich for around 2\/3 of the students who need a room. The range of rooms is accessible to all students in the city of Zurich. Where possible, SSWZ also offers space for local businesses and children's uses.
