The property, built in 1904, was acquired in 2025 and is currently undergoing extensive renovation for student use. 
Im Oktober 2025 sind acht Studierende im Rahmen des Erstbezugs eingezogen.

The listed office building was acquired in 2024. Planning is currently underway for a comprehensive revitalization and conversion into modern student housing. The focus is on a holistic approach, with a particular emphasis on sustainable solutions. A key element is the targeted use of recycled materials (“reuse”), which is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 15–20%. 

The project is scheduled for completion in 2027. Once work is finished, the building will provide accommodation for around 115 students.

Based on a solid network of architects, developers, and property owners, the SSWZ team reviews around 40 properties per year. Several properties with a total of around 1,300 rooms for students are currently on the shortlist.

One ongoing project is the identification of optimal living arrangements for the students of the future. To this end, the SSWZ regularly invites external industry participants, planners, and experts to engage in professional discourse.

The goal is to develop a space unit that is as flexible, sustainable, modular, and cost-effective as possible, and that meets the housing needs of future generations of students.

Living in SSWZ properties should be easy for students with physical disabilities. SSWZ is analyzing its entire portfolio to identify opportunities for establishing barrier-free apartments.
